Conjoined Twins..Big tension for parents !

Conjoined Twins are extremely rare a birth defect and may be mistaken for interlocking of twins. In all cases of mono amniotic twins the possibility of conjoined twins , should be considered.
Antenatal Ultra sonography shows , both twins facing each other or on repeated examination heads are at same level and plane. The Thoracic cages are in unusual proximity . There is no change in relative foetus position with time or manipulation.
An X-Ray  abdomen may be performed with radi-opaque  dye in amniotic fluid to confirm diagnosis.
Spontaneous delivery may occur in extreme premature cases. Caesarean section offers a safe method of delivery for the mother and should be done , where the diagnosis is confirmed., usually obstructed labor is encountered.
After Caesarean section , the outcome of foetus ,if alive is a big burden to the middle class families., If they can take risk / afford the cost of operation and outcome of operation may or may not be good., but one should be optimistic.
Otherwise the conjoined Twins are heaven for the foetus and hell for the life of the parents. , now they have to suffer particularly mother.
